Back-Bending and Hip Opening

This back-bending series will stimulate your neurones, raise your energy/prana and create better posture. Are your hips tight from intensive periods of sitting, driving or years of cycling /running/skying/kayaking...? Hip openers increase mobility in and around the pelvis , the cradle for your spine and therefore prevent back injuries and hip replacement. Leave the workshop awakened, taller and more centered. Your solar plexus and hips will send you a thank you note later!

Basic Yoga Assists and Adjustments
with Huckleberry
Learn the theories behind some of the assists and adjustments seen in most yoga classes. Get a better understanding of what the goal and method is, and improve as a student receiving, or a teacher giving. We will go over the proper methods, and learn the basics. Group and partner work, no partners needed. All levels welcome.

Breathing and Balance

 The aging process, anxiety and modern lifestyle generally includes the loss of both breath capacity and balance. Yoga, an ancient technology, help us to maintain and increase both by practicing asanas (poses), pranayama (breath expansion) and meditation. In one 90 minute session we will explore playfully specific sequences and leave the workshop centered and aware of the lightness of Being!

Flying into Arm Balances
with Sarah Davis, Anusara-Inspired
Learn how to fly into arm balances with bravery and playfulness. We will open the hips and shoulder through attitude, action, and alignment, leading up to a series of fun and challenging poses. 

Integral Yoga Class
with Kim Donselaar
A complete yoga class founded in a spiritual consciousness recognizing that we are all triunal beings made up of body, mind, and spirit. This class begins with a series of breath work designed to connect the mind and body. Followed by a full sequence of asnas that are designed to further cultivate awareness. The spiritual connection is established through a series of chants. Finally, the class ends in a full complete restful meditation.

Introduction to Hoopdance. 
With Kieth and Jen Moore
In the Intro to Hoopdance workshop, you will learn the core moves of hoopdance that will allow you to build a solid foundation to dance from. You will strengthen and open your body, and discover yourself in the hoop. You'll learn beautiful moves, build your skills, and start learning how to actually dance with the hoop! All the while, you'll be toning your abs, back, arms, hips, buns and legs, strengthening and opening your upper back and chest, increasing balance and getting a cardio workout!

Introduction to Yoga Meditation
with Huckleberry
This is an introduction to the skill of meditation as taught by the Yoga Sutras. We will start with a general discussion on what meditation is, and how it fits into the yoga lifestyle, and simple step by step method for developing a yoga meditation practice. A short asana practice will be followed by a silent sitting session, cool down, and savasana.

Kundalini Yoga and Meditation as taught by Yogi Bhajan

2011 is the year where it becomes extremely crucial to live from the heart center. The heavens and earth meet through this center. A life of kindness, compassion, and love will bring not only peace and beauty within ourselves but also peace throughout the entire world. Sandra will introduce kriyas and meditation techniques that will break the rusty chains that imprison our hearts. Through heart opening exercises, chanting, and heart-centered meditation, we will find the path that will lead us to our merge with Supreme Consciousness.

Making Choices

Bring the wisdom of yoga into your daily life with Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy. Explore your relationship to Choice and Choosing using gentle movements, guided meditation, and self-reflection. You will be guided to notice your tendency to choose out of habit or fear, rather than from a place of awareness or personal power. No experience needed.

Moon Salutations
with Dena Beratta
Based on the principles of classical yoga, this class is specially designed for calming at the end of our busy day. You will be guided through centering, pranayama, and warm-ups followed by several variations of moon salutations. Moon salutations provide primarily side stretching and are a wonderful complement to sun salutations. We’ll move to the mat for some restorative floor poses and end with a guided liquid moonlight visualization experience sure to provide a relaxing end to the day. Be sure to bring a blanket for relaxation. Moonbeams will then transport you to your beds for sweet slumber.

Opening the Gates
Hands and Feet in Asana

From a seated centering practice we will move through basic seated and standing Iyengar yoga postures .Emphasis will be on the hand to feet connection, deepening our inner perception, and finding alignment from earth to sky.

Spiraling to Center
Rotations and counter rotations

This class will involve basic Iyengar sitting and standing postures with an emphasis on rotation, parivritta. Rotations enhance the quality of health in the soft organ systems of the body, improve circulation, metabolism and range of motion of the spine itself.

Vinyasa Flow Class
with Kim Donselaar
An active flowing yoga practice consisting of a slow easy warm up with a series of flowing very active Sun Salutations. The Sun Salutations are followed by a sequence of standing asanas with half Vinaysa Flows in between. The practice moves through a challenging combination balance poses that move into hip opening and floor stretches, and ending with a restful Savasana.

Yoga for Beginners
with Sarah Davis, Anusara-Inspired
Learn about yoga from the ground up in this workshop for beginners. Beginning with basic postures and alignment, you will learn how to hold yourself with greater strength and stability. The instructor will take time to address your specific questions on yoga, as well as therapeutics and injury.

Yoga for Geniuses

Uncovering your innate genius means learning to gain access to the diverse aspects of your total being – and understanding the beautiful complexities of interplay among them. Based on the principles outlined in the book, “How to Think Like Leonardo DaVinci,” by Michael Gelb, this session will take you on a yogic journey as you discover and rediscover your own potential to be a renaissance yogi as we move through a full and challenging Vinyasa practice.

Yogallegro!

Yoga means “to connect.”’ Allegro is a musical term that means, “do it joyfully.” In this session, participants will practice connecting with the joy that IS life. This workshop incorporates journal writing exercises, a 50-minute Vinyasa practice, and a fun and engaging community activity – all designed to help you discover the joy in your life!
