Dena DeFrees Beratta, RYT

I have a 200-hour certification from the Kripalu-based Infinite Light Yoga School. I teach three multi-level classes a week in Camillus and Marcellus (west of Syracuse, NY), and I am an adjunct yoga instructor at Onondaga Community College. In addition, I plan and lead several workshops each year and I mentor new teachers and facilitate practice teaching sessions at the ILY School. I volunteer often and have led workshops for children, church groups, and at-risk teens in the community. I attend many trainings and retreats to continuously learn more about this practice, and I led daily workshops at both of the Finger Lakes Yoga Festival events in 2010.
I offer an experience based on the principles of classical yoga. In a typical class, I guide students through centering/meditation, pranayama (breathing), warm-ups, a brief vinyasa (flow of postures linked with breath), asanas (postures), and relaxation, encouraging all levels to find their “edge,” working at their own level and honoring the body in its current state of health.
